FAQs

  • When Rachael is ready to start accepting new requests, she will send out her availability and instructions on how to apply via her mailing list. This is usually every 2-3 months. From August 2025 she will be on maternity leave until February 2026. Make sure to sign up here to receive updates!

  • Rachael currently works in both Bristol (Crisp Studio) and London (Noka Tattoo). She usually has more availability in Bristol.

  • Rachael’s minimum charge is £150 and she charges roughly £150 per hour. Her minimum charge, for example, would be for a single letter at around 1.5cm. Prices increase from there depending on complexity and placement. Prices are inclusive of admin, conception and drawing time.

  • Rachael usually receives more requests than she has slots available, so it’s often not possible to fit everyone in. Especially as she now works part-time alongside being a mother. Please be conscious of how easy to understand your request is, Rachael can only offer appointments for ideas she can conceptualise. Please do try again if you are really keen to get tattooed by Rachael, it sometimes takes a few tries!

  • You can of course email Rachael about your idea but she doesn’t have a lot of time to answer general enquiries at the moment. Please sign up to her newsletter here and fill out the booking form when you receive it. She’ll have all the relevant info she needs about your tattoo, making it easier to get back to you and give you a quote.

  • Rachael mostly makes custom designs. This is when you explain your idea and Rachael follows your brief to create something unique for you which will never be tattooed again. Rachael also has a small selection of designs on Instagram (see ‘available’ highlight) which she adds to from time to time.

  • Yes! She loves this sentiment and is always so happy to do so. When applying for an appointment, please make it clear that there will be more than one person wishing to get the tattoo idea.

  • One of Rachael’s favourite things about tattooing is all the wonderful people she meets. She loves hearing your stories and has learnt so much from the people she has tattooed. She’s also happy to not talk and be in her bubble of creativity, she understands getting tattooed can be nerve wracking. She will usually take your lead but if you prefer to email her your preference beforehand then please do so.

  • Rachael will explain how to look after your tattoo at the end of our appointment. She will provide a cream and send you an aftercare pdf. Please bear in mind that you will need to avoid direct sun exposure, swimming, saunas and strenuous exercise for a few weeks after getting tattooed.

  • It is not advised to get tattooed whilst pregnant. Generally it is also not recommended to get tattooed whilst breastfeeding as there is limited research. The main risk whilst breastfeeding is that if you were to contract an infection then you may have to stop breastfeeding quite suddenly. Infection risk is very, very low but this could still be possible. Some artists may agree to tattoo you if your baby is eating solids well and you are aware of the risks.

  • Yes! Rachael loves the idea of working at events or weddings. Please email hello@rachainsworth.com to discuss further.

  • Rachael always advises against using numbing cream as it changes the texture of your skin and makes tattooing more challenging. It can also compromise on healing.

  • There is undeniably some pain involved when getting tattooed but Rachael believes it is very bearable. The most similar thing she can think to compare it to is epilating or a scratching sensation. Some areas are slightly sharper than others but this really changes from person to person. She’d recommend not listening to friends/others too much as your experience will be different. Get the tattoo where you would like it to be and try not to worry about it being a more ‘painful area’ - you might regret it otherwise.
